Usage

Used to express the fact (in reality, it is not but) as if -

V / い / なである / Nである + かのように

友達は自分が合格したかのように喜んでくれた My friend was so happy for me as if they had passed (the test) themself

彼は今日初めて会うのに、前に何度も会ったことがあるかのような態度で話してくる Although this is the first time I am meeting him, he spoke to me as if we had met many times before
