Usage
(N / V plain) ほど (いA -い -> く + ない / なA - ~~だ~~ + ではない) Indicates that both A and B are X, but A is less than B
(N / V plain) ほどではない

中国は日本より広いが、ロシアほど広くはない。
China is bigger than Japan but not as big as Russia
八ヶ岳は有名な山だが、富士ほど有名ではない。
Yastugatake is a well-known mountain but not as famous as Mt. Fuji.
