Usage

The suffix 化 is affixed to nouns and adjectives and adds the meaning "-ization" as in "mechanisation" and "digitisation"

化する = -ize; make; become; change to

日本の有名な小説がハリウッドで映画化されることになった。 A famous Japanese novel became a movie in Hollywood.
