ということになる is used to sum up several items of information and state the implications of a situation
Examples
もし混む学生が十人以上にならなければ、その旅行は中止ということになる.
Unless at least students apply, the trip will be canceled.
今夜カレーを食べれば、三日続けてカレーを食べたということになる。
If we have curry tonight, we will have had it three days in a row
