ます; い-adjective + く
Usage
The ます stem of a verb and the steam of an I adjective + く indicate that the sentence is continuing. This use is generally restricted to written language. In spoken language the the form of verb or and i adjective is commonly used.
Examples
昨日は友達とレストランで晩ご飯を食べ、その後、映画を見に行った。
Yesterday I went with my friend to the restaurant for dinner and later we went to watch a movie
兄と違い、僕はスポーツがあまり得意じゃない。
Unlike my older brother, I am not so good at sports.
この地方は冬は雪が多く、夏はとても暑い。
It snows a lot in winter in this region, in summer it is very hot.
